During the pandemic lockdown, I fortuitously met my Scottish friend, Rodger Ainslie on Twitter. We shared a common interest for songwriting and so our musical collaboration began. Rodger asked me to sing on one of his new songs and I happily agreed. Midway into recording, only seven short months later, Rodger passed suddenly. Now, 20 months later his song is finally ready to be launched into the world. I know he will hear it wherever he is. I am grateful for his friendship, even short lived. Rodger's voice will always soar.

Whatever Happened (To Where We Belong) is a love song about the real love story: commitment. In a world where “love” is seemingly exemplified through rose colored lenses, this is a song about love once the lenses come off.

“Standing on a lake, I hope this ice don’t break” tells the truth about committing to another person for a lifetime and the honest vulnerability between two people. "Whatever Happened (To Where We Belong)" is a song about love from the other side, not just the side heading in; that’s easy.

When your child is ready to fly, give them wings. And when your child asks you to record a duet with them (yes, can you believe it?), just do it. I’m filled with love sharing with you the most meaningful and memorable two minutes and forty-three seconds I have ever taken part in. A song we love to sing together still, after so many years.
